The Sheriff handles jail custody and local release records, the courts handle case documents, and MDOC handles state-prison and supervision records. Messages about this private website are different from requests for official information.

This is not a government office. We cannot confirm custody, release anyone, obtain a record, change a court file, or contact a corrections officer for you.

Choose the Record Holder

Send a request to the agency responsible for the event. A jail release record does not come from MDOC, and a court order does not come from a private search service.

  • For current Barry County Jail custody, a same-day release, or a local booking record, contact the Barry County Sheriff’s Office.
  • For bond, dismissal, sentence, or court-document questions, contact 56-B District Court or 5th Circuit Court as the case requires.
  • For a state prisoner, parolee, probationer, or recent MDOC discharge, use OTIS and MDOC records channels.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP or ICE system rather than a Barry County office.

Adult criminal cases begin in District Court. A felony that is bound over continues in 5th Circuit Court, whose main telephone is 269-945-1286. Ask the clerk about a certified or unavailable document rather than sending a judicial-record request through Sheriff FOIA.
